Great babyseat, but installation is NOT straightforward!, April 19, 2012 By Dave (San Francisco) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Yepp Mini Bicycle Child Seat (Sports) This seat is the best babyseat I've ever used, because the baby sits at the center of the bike (better weight distribution than a rear mount) and my son loves the unimpeded view forward. However it's not designed for the mountain bikes popular in the US but rather for the commuter bikes common in Holland (where the product is manufactured). Those who travel to Amsterdam regularly know the bike I'm referring to: less aggressive upright riding position with handlebars, on long necks, that curve back almost to your hips. But with certain other styles of bikes you can still make this seat work.
Very important: If your bike's handlebar neck is greater than 1.1 inches in diameter then the "adapter" they ship with the seat won't fit, because bolts are too short, and you won't be able to mount the seat. My bike, the Trek Soho [...] has a relatively thin 1.33" neck but the bolts still don't reach. So if you have a big "stocky" mountain bike you definitely can't use the... Read more

I bought this item at our local REI so my 5.5 year old could use the weehoo and my just turned 2 year old could use this. I love the design, ease of use, and all the general aspects of it. My 2 year old loved it and fit perfectly in it. Which means that next year he'd likely be too big for it.
In the end, the downfalls of it made me return it. I have bruises on my knees from bumping the metal that happen to be perfectly placed at the bottom/outside of the seat. I felt like my 2 year old was in all my space making it hard for me to see around him comfortably. It is really tough to bike up hill with it too.
I ended up buying a co-rider to try and decide between the 2. There's a few downfalls of that too (you can't easily take it... Read more
