Nice for the price, April 9, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Kent Mens Bayside 7 Speed Comfort Bike (Misc.) Bought this bike to ride around downtown New Orleans, the package came in good condition. The bike had a few cosmetic flaws, including a small dent on the fork. The welds on this bike are strong but not very nice looking. The rims are alloy, not steel like the description. The seat stitching split apart after one day, the grips on the handlebars really sucked as well and I replaced both! The brakes needed serious tweaking, and the front rim needed truing. The Derailleur worked perfect out the box! The tacky stickers that came all over the bike took several hours to remove, but really made the bike look nice. The suspension only has one inch give, and only works with harder bumps, this is not a mountain bike! Tires look nice and seem to hold air. I paid a local bike shop fifty bucks to tune everything up and true the rims. So, overall it cost me around $220 to get this bike how I like it. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. Someone gave me an 80cc Chinese motor that can be bolted to a bicycle, and I didn't want to attach it to my $500 mountain bike, so I did some looking around for a cheap bike to use as a "mule". I wanted a comfort-style bike with gears because it's hilly where I live. Since the motor will add 20-30lbs, I looked for something light weight. Suspension on cheap bikes tends to be mushy and flexy, but for "comfort" purposes, I figured that would be a bonus too. For $125 shipped, this bike seemed like a winner, so I placed the order. In about 5 days the bike arrived at my door. It was well-packed and undamaged. It took about 1/2 hr to assemble, inflate, the tires and do a few test/tuning runs up and down the block. You will need a set of allen (hex) wrenches to assemble this bike. Otherwise, you "could" assemble it w/ very minimal tools.
This bikes frame, paint, seat, and wheels are very nice for the money. The levers are functional but chintzy plastic and cast aluminum... Read more
