a solid product, February 6, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sigma BC 1609 STS Wireless Bicycle Speedometer (Sports) This is my second Sigma bike computer; the first is a wired job installed on a Trek FX 7.3 hybrid that has worked flawlessly for close to two years, on the original battery. The new one, the 1609 non-cad wireless, is now on a Trek 2.3 road bike. Installation is easy enough, but you must follow carefully the very specific instructions, which I thought were pretty clear. Though wireless, it seems to record lots of information without a problem. Just following the directions patiently, I believe, is the trick. After I installed it, the computer started working with the first roll out of the garage and has not hiccupped so far, which is only about twenty miles or so. Still, I have grown confident in Sigma bike computers and recommend them.

Much Better That The Reviews Say, August 15, 2010 By Hike & Bike (Seaford, VA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sigma BC 1609 STS Wireless Bicycle Speedometer (Sports) I've been riding with this computer for about 6 months now. I've seen here at amazon and at other sites some not so good reviews. All I can say is that my experience is 180 degrees out. This unit has worked flawlessly and I'm constantly impressed with how much data this thing can pump out. I've use CatEye (good), EVO (good), and Polar (horrible). The Sigma 1609 STS is the best yet. With STS Sigma got the wireless right.
The only negative I can think of is that the instructions are not well written and it requires a bit of "hands on" before you use it to understand what it can do. Several advanced functions require a combination of button pushes. One note of caution, if you mount the computer's base-plate the wrong way the computer won't receive data from the speedo or cadence. It's in the instructions, but what self-respecting dude reads those things anyway. Once I figured that out, I reset the data sync 2 or 3 times and since then it's never had a hiccup. Also, I had to go... Read more

Easy to Setup, Easy to Use, June 3, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sigma BC 1609 STS Wireless Bicycle Speedometer (Sports) I had no problem installing the unit; requiring under 5 minutes. Initial setup was fairly painless, after finding my tire circumference online and following the instructions in the included manual.
It has taken a bit of time to get used to the button functions, but once learned it is easy to use.
Unit seems accurate and works perfectly.
