I also like the fact that it comes with a helmet attachment. This light is almost bright enough to use by itself for a cyclist to see the road (as opposed to just being seen by drivers) -- it could be used by itself on a dark street at slower speeds, but not on singletrack or while riding fast. Coming with both headlamp and helmet attachments sweetens the deal. I have one mounted on my right handle bar, another on my left fork. I may end up using one for a taillight as well (with a little red tape over it) as the taillight that comes in this set has a MAJOR flaw. Essentially the entirety of the light comes out very easily to change the batteries and is not attached in any other way to the housing. I have ridden my bike for a week and the light/battery assembly have popped out... somewhere and i'm left with only the holder. I should have heeded the warnings in the taillight review. It's partially my fault for understanding this was a known issue and not attaching it with some Gorilla tape. Thought about it... but just thinking about it apparently didn't help.So if you don't read anything else in this review: Tape your taillight to its housing and you'll probably love it. Come in many colors and have 4 modes of operation. Bright, dimmer, dimmest and strobe. White light from one brightly focused beam. Diffused light for close up work and yet sends light far enough down the road for hiking and biking. Waterproof to 1 meter and uses common AAA batteries. Battery life is long, even on the highest setting and this makes a great well made light. Don't buy the cheap junk only to replace it every few months, buy these and have a light that will last. The button has a rubber cover and does not wear out. The elastic strap is well made and does not curl up or fall apart. Very well made and will last. For those going into harms way, a red and white version is available form this company, but for just white light, this provides a clean white beam. No bluish tinge or weird shadow effect from an unfocused beam. Get these now, since companies tend to make a crappier design after hitting a home run. |
