Scooter saver, September 8, 2011 This review is from: Kryptonite New York 1217 Bicycle Chain Lock and Evolution Series 4 Disc Lock (5-Foot x 5-Inch) (Sports) I recently purchased a scooter for errands and fun. Great gas mileage by the way. Around here 5 or 6 scooters are stolen a week. Bad economy, good scooter sales. I use my 1217 to secure the scoot to anything that can't be picked up and moved. The 5' length lets me lock up almost anywhere I go. Only CVS doesn't have a thing to lock to so I use the drive thru window. It's a heavy lock but OK for packing away inside the scooter storage compartment. Anyone who thinks they can pick this lock with a Bic pen is about 3 years behind the times. The new updated lock isn't opening for anyone without a key.

Just by touching & looking at those chains you immediately feel it's a TOUGH PRODUCT....it's very robust.

I have a Honda Metropolitan moped that i use the lock and chain to secure. the chain is pretty imposing. Kryptonite does make a chain with even bigger links, but i think that is probably overkill. this one is already north of 10 pounds. yeah, probably wont deter every single knucklehead who would want to attempt to steal your bike, but i think it is pretty good. I use it in conjunction with a Kryptonite Fuggetaboutit u-Lock. pretty good combination
