just okay, January 6, 2010 By This review is from: SpareHand Double Bike Rack - Freestanding Storage System (Sports) This was a gift to my husband and me to help free up some space in our little condo. I assembled it (not too difficult except for trying to determine which screws were the "long" ones and which were the "medium" ones) and put the bikes on it, and my husband was afraid it would topple over. It didn't seem very sturdy with the bikes on it. If we had a garage with a cement floor, it might be okay, but we have to store our bikes in a carpeted room. We each have a Cannondale mountain bike - one medium size frame and one extra large frame. It was hard to get both bikes to fit without rubbing against the floor or each other, and the hooks didn't hold the bikes in any stable position. Didn't save any space either. I took it apart, and it has sat in its box under our bed for over a year now. Our bikes are now stored upside down and side by side on the floor - much sturdier and much less space taken up.

Great Bike Stand, February 11, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: SpareHand Double Bike Rack - Freestanding Storage System (Sports) Sturdy stand holds my 2009 Bianchi C2C 928 Carbon Monocoque Centaur and 2009 Specialized FSR XC Stumpjumper Comp 29er. The Stumpy goes on the bottom because it is heavier and the tires don't touch the floor. The 928 Centaur goes on the top. It weighs 15 pounds. I think if the heavier of the were on the top it would not make a difference. This is a well made, durable stand. It is freestanding, which is exactly what I wanted in case I wanted to change locations. I didn't want the 'lean against the wall' type. You can adjust the cycle holders to whatever position you want to hang the cycles. The reason for the 5th star missing in this review is it took 2 deliveries to get the parts to fit together right. (The second delivery, Amazon direct, came the next day - great!) Somebody must've been drunk during the welding process and the weld covered the place where the screw fit in, thus the screw would not go into the part. The instructions are good, but they labeled screw 'J' wrong. Don't use... Read more

Handy Bike Rack!, June 28, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: SpareHand Double Bike Rack - Freestanding Storage System (Sports) We purchased this bike rack almost a year ago and have been very pleased with its value and function. We needed a space-saving way to store our bikes without marring the ceiling or wall, and this has proved to be exactly that. I'd like to note that when we first received this order, the box appeared to have been opened previously and the instructions were missing. As a result, it looked initially like a part or parts were missing as well. I had contacted Amazon right away about this, but they couldn't really help with this type problem and said to contact the manufacturer. It took a little research at that time to find a contact number for Stoneman Sports, but I eventually did. (It's 626-338-8998, given here by permission). When I called, I spoke with Dennis Wang personally, and he was most helpful, e-mailing the actual manual to me right away. After receiving that, I was able to identify that all the parts *were* actually in the box and nothing was missing other than the... Read more
