Getting a grip on it!, July 29, 2011 By James H. I got exactly what I was expecting from looking at the product information on-line. The grips were very easy to install and I had them on my bikes in just a few minutes. It took me a couple rides to get the correct angle of the handle set up, but this was also easy to adjust. The grips have mitigated circulation issues I had previously had in my hands when going for long rides. The Ergon GR3's are comfortable and I can move my hands to a number of positions on my handle-bar. These make my rides much more enjoyable. I highly recommend. -jhm

I didn't realize just how much I was fighting my bike because of the stock grips. I am on the small side, and previously, even with careful seat adjustment and padded gloves, I couldn't feel my hands after 20 minutes. Not fun when sudden braking is needed.
This morning I installed the Ergon GR3 grips in about 20 minutes. They are very easy to install and adjust; I just needed a hex key and a measuring tape. After some re-adjusting of the shifters on the handlebars I was off for an hour's ride through streets and across dirt trails.
I used to be able to time my rides because invariably, 20 minutes in, my hands would go numb and I'd have to take a break and shake them out. The 20 minute mark came up, then 30, then 40. I blazed on. I finally felt the pleasure of a "dialed in" ride.

This product on the other hand requires me to write a review. I have been riding my new Trek mountain bike a lot, and it seems as I get older, my hands are less durable. The standard grips would make the heel of my palms ache, so I started looking at other grips at my local retail shops. I felt these (from handling them not installed) would fit my hands the best. When I received and installed them, the difference was amazing, hence the review. Your weight is distributed throughout the grip, and the ergonomic contour fits my hand perfectly. For my hand size, I chose the large grip. I can't imagine how anyone else wouldn't have the same experience that I had. Highly recommend.
