Blinding Bright, November 15, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: ATC 1000 Lumen Cree XM-L 4-Mode 1000-Lumen LED Bike Light cycling bicycle Bike Light Set (Electronics) I was a bit hesitant considering the non-name brand and lack of reviews; however I was pleased with the solid build quality and incredible performance during my "trial" run. I ended up using the light at 70% of max as it was almost too bright at 100%. Mounted on my helmet it allowed me to laser focus on where I wanted be -8-10 feet ahead, while providing more than enough periphery light, negating the need for a second light mounted on the handle bars. Very impressed and would buy ATC products again in the future.

OK. I've now had a handful of rides with this light and I am just as thrilled as on day one! Furthermore, this light appears (my subjective opinion) to be brighter than the MajicShine 1000 lumen light that I bought the day after I bought this one (so I could have one light on the handlebars and another on my helmet). A pretty technical ride in some areas during the day time when performed at a medium to fast pace. I used this light a few days after it arrived via prime two day shipping from Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised by its performance and brightness. I used it on full (of the four settings) for 2 hours with no noticeable fade in lighting based on power available from the supplied battery.
This unit is the one that comes with the orange peel reflector. A good bonus according to MTBR that provides for a wider beam spread without mods. I found the beam spread to be perfectly adequate without adding any diffuser. If you plan on doing off road technical trails at night I would recommend this light to be helmet mounted and used in combination with another bar mounted light.
